China Market Outlook

As per the information collected by Mr. Manzar during his CDS-2015 Shanghai visit in the last week of September-2015, China's population of about 1.4 billion, 110,000 dentists, dental technicians 110,000, the proportion of dentists and the population is 1: 12727.1985 per 100,000 people of China have a dentist, in 1995 from 5 to 6 million people have a dentist, 2005 In 2.5 million people have a dentist, in 2010 1.3 million people have a dentist. Thus, China's dentist and oral medicine practitioners along with China’s economy have taken off very rapidly. However, in Europe, America, Japan and other developed countries where the average ranges one dentist per 1000 to 2000 people. This suggests there is still a big gap in China as far as oral health care. The country's development goal is to bridge this gap and aims to attain the average one dentist per 4,000 to 5,000 people in 2030. This means that over the next 10--20 years, Chinese dental hospitals and clinics will need to expand 5 times more than that of now in order to meet the demand of increasingly affluent Chinese people on treatment, care and cosmetic dental needs of oral diseases.

China is witnessing exceptional development and enhanced standard of living of its population. This has led to increased consumption level Chinese oral medicine, medical technology and services. There is ever growing demand of high quality dental equipments and materials in the country. National Dental Survey shows that Chinese people suffering from dental problems was more than 97% of adults, about 50% of patients with periodontal disease, dental caries incidence rate of 37% of the population, have an average of 2.47 of dental caries, according 1.4 billion population count National dental caries patients reached 500 million people, the total number of dental caries in 1 billion or more. Chinese dental products market prospects are very broad.

According to Mr. Manzar, there is a huge potential market for Indian Dental or surgical equipments and the manufacturing companies should look towards Chinese market and should take part in Dental shows like China Dental Show organized by ‘Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions’, China, so that they can grab better export opportunities.
